Kindred Community Rules

We’re excited that you’ve chosen to join our inclusive and ever-growing community to match, meet and date like-minded singles. Kindred is made up of a diverse group of amazing humans with different experiences and perspectives shaping their views of kids and relationships. We want everyone to be themselves, feel welcome and safe, as well as to approach others with curiosity, respect and kindness.

We trust that everyone joining the app is here with only good intentions in the hope of finding their Kindred spirit. To ensure we’re all on the same page and keep the community positive for everyone, we’ve created a list of rules below. Any violations of these rules will be taken very seriously and could result in your removal from the app.

We ask that you help us protect the community by reporting any behaviour that violates our rules by email, through the website or directly in the app. We also suggest you take a little time to read our safety tips.

Intentions

Firstly, and most importantly, anyone using Kindred must not be looking to have kids any time in the future. It also goes without saying that anyone using the app is single and looking for a serious relationship.

Profile Pics

Your profile pics should be focused on you, your face clearly visible, and be a recent pic. We have lovely humans who moderate all the pics and text before they go live on the app, so don’t ruin their day with dick pics, nudity, graphic or sexual content.

If you don’t want your pics to be declined, follow these basic rules:

  • Your face should be clearly visible in all pics without being obscured. Sunglasses and hats are allowed as long as your entire face is visible.

  • Images with multiple people are allowed if it’s clear which one you are. If a pic is likely to confuse others as they can’t tell who you are, we may decline it.

  • We're happy to see your pets alongside you in pics, but your face must be clearly visible.

  • We have a zero-tolerance policy towards minors in pics. Don't post pics of your kids or cute nieces or nephews, or even you as a kid. We will decline them.

  • Don't include contact details or social handles in your pics

  • Pics containing any of the following will be declined:

- Minors/kids

- Filters or heavy edits

- Memes

- Overlaid text or watermarks

- Shirtless, bikinis or swimwear out of context

- Lingerie or underwear

- Nudity or sexually explicit imagery

- Weapons or drugs

- Shows of violence, violent gestures, or gruesome imagery

- Depictions of criminal activity or drug use

- Racist or hate imagery

- Rude, sexual or otherwise offensive gestures or imagery

Text Answers

We have lovely humans who moderate all the text before it goes live on the app, so don’t ruin their day! If you don’t want your pics to be declined, follow these basic rules:

  • Don't leave the answer empty or use a single character (like a space or full stop)

  • Don't write gibberish or random letters

  • The answer should be relevant to the question or prompt

  • No explicit or sexual content

  • No references to weapons or drugs

  • No racist, hate or other offensive content

  • Don't include contact details or social handles

Text of this nature will be declined and your account may be removed. Keep it clean people!

Harassment

We all know what harassment is but, for absolute clarity, let’s break it down. Harassment can be discriminatory - be it based on any or all of these factors: lifestyle choice, religion, sexual orientation, race, disability, age, physical appearance.

Continually pestering someone after they say no or end the conversation, sending unsolicited sexual content to your matches, stalking, intimidation or threatening physical or bodily harm are also harassment and will not be tolerated.

If you harass anyone, you will be removed.

Threatening Violence Or Physical Harm

If things don’t go the way you’d hoped, and sometimes they don’t, that’s no excuse to be violent or threaten physical harm to anyone.

We don’t tolerate any form of violent, graphic, or gory content, human or animal abuse. These acts of violence are strictly prohibited.

If you’re chatting with someone who talks of suicide or self-harm, you can report the user to us.

Hate Speech

This includes, but is in no way limited to, the following: violence against individuals or groups based on factors regarding race, religion, age, ethnicity, political affiliation, sexual orientation, gender identity, or lifestyle choices. It also includes any form of bigotry, hatred, violence, or threats of any kind.

We also don’t tolerate hate speech and derogatory references towards minors. While people on the app don’t want to have their own kids in the future, we expect them to act with respect towards those of others, as you should to any human being.

There’s no justification for it. If you engage in hate speech, you will be removed immediately. If you are on the receiving end, then be sure to report it to us immediately.

Keep It Private!

Sadly, there are fraudsters out there who want to get their hands on your personal details or your money. Don’t share any information that could provide access to your financial accounts, or overshare details about your personal life, place of work or social media. It takes very little info for people to be able to learn a whole lot about you. Your safety comes first, always!

Don’t Be A Spammer Or Scammer

Everybody hates spam - don’t spam the heck out of people and never try to divert people to external websites, applications, phone numbers, or places - this will result in you being kicked off the app pretty damn quickly.

We have a zero-tolerance policy towards scammers. Beware of scammers who match with you in order to get close and ask for services, private information, sharing financial account information or asking for financial help. Report them immediately.

Scammers often attempt to move the conversation off the app swiftly to try and gain more information or tell you a sob story. Remaining on the app will ensure you don’t share any personal contact details. Be smart and report these accounts to us.

Promoting And Solicitation

No promoting or soliciting is allowed on Kindred, whether for businesses, political campaigns, environmental activism, profit, not-for-profit, contests or anything else. If you want to promote something, use your social media. We will ban you if you promote or solicit on our platform.

Prostitution And Trafficking

Promoting or advocating for commercial sexual services, human trafficking or other non-consensual sexual acts is illegal and forbidden. It will result in your account being banned and you may also be reported.

Impersonation And Catfish

Don’t impersonate, misrepresent affiliation, connection or association with any person or entity. Equally importantly, don’t misrepresent yourself – make sure your photos are current, your text answers are accurate, and your interactions with others are honest.

If you suspect a person or profile is fake or impersonating someone else, report it to us immediately. Don’t trust everything you see or read on social media, in fact, do just the opposite!

Parents, Own It

It's very important to be upfront if you’re a parent. Not everyone wants to date someone with kids (and that's totally okay), so be honest from the outset about who you are and who you’re looking for. It’ll save your time and other people’s.

Minors

You must be 18+ to use Kindred. We also don’t allow images of minors. Be sure to report any account you suspect to be under 18, or if it has pics of any persons under 18.

Copyright And Trademark Infringement

Be real and most importantly be you! Don’t take or use photos of other people, places, brands, advertisements. Don’t share any work that is copyrighted or trademarked by others.

Illegal Activity

C’mon we all know what’s illegal, which is why we wouldn’t do it in real life. The same rules apply here.

One Person, One account

This one is quite simple. There should only be one account per person. Do not create multiple accounts or share your account with anyone else.

Account Inactivity

We know life can get busy at times and you won't always be active on the Kindred app. That's all good but we may delete your account if it's left inactive for more than a year.

If your circumstances change and you’re no longer looking to meet singles, just delete your account until you’re ready to join us again.

Ghosting

Quit ghosting people! It’s really not that hard to send a quick “Thanks, but I’m not interested” message. Just be upfront and let someone know if you’re not feeling it. Be polite, let people down gently and move on. The golden rule here - treat others as you wish to be treated.

Cool To Be Kind

Please be kind and respectful to our moderators, they’re real humans who are doing their very best to create a safe and inclusive space for everyone. We reserve the right to exclude from our community anyone who is rude or aggressive towards any of our team.

Be human, be kind.
